Making flowers an everyday treat.
Our story
Petal and Bean was born from a genuine love for the beauty of flowers and a desire to spread the joy!
The name - as well as referring to the flowers and coffee we sell - is a nod to my eldest daughter referring to herself as ‘just a petal’ (usually when trying to get out of doing a hard job!) and to my younger daughter - and sometimes our pup Daisy - as ‘just a bean’.
Combine that with my love for a bunch of beautiful flowers and a great cup of coffee and Petal and Bean was born!
Our ethos
At Petal and Bean we believe that flowers should be in everyones life and our dream is to make flowers part of the every day for as many people as possible! We want to remove the mystery from the florists shop by doing things differently. We make bouquets for all price points from huge impressive bouquets to small jam jar posies or single stem bud vases.
There is a saying you may have heard, that in life we should take time to smell the flowers. The exact quote is “You are only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry and be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” which is attributed to Walter Hagen (golfer extraodinaire) in 1956. In our busy lives I think it is so important to take a moment to pause and appreciate the beauty of the natural world around us. We cant always transport ourselves to the middle of a field but with a bunch of flowers we can still take that moment.
So if you want to cheer someone up, send love or sympathy, or just lift your own home or mood, why not order some flowers today!
Locally grown, seasonal blooms
At Petal and Bean we support small scale flower farms in the local area by buying from them when the seasonal availability allows.
By buying from local flower farms we ensure they are seasonal and fresh - and we love to know we are supporting local businesses. It also means that the flowers have not been flown across the world or transported via flower markets so have a low carbon foorprint.
To ensure we always have full buckets - even when the variable British weather tries to scupper things! - we also have some from the Dutch markets to bring you the widest availability of blooms.
